Doolin Craft Beer and Roots Festival !!
The Doolin Craft Beer and Roots Festival, now in it's third year running took place in Doolin Co. Clare last weekend, 21st August - 23 August 2015. The festival brings about the very best in the Irish Craft Beer market and fantastic artists playing a range of music styles to suit all tastes. It takes place in the gardens section at Hotel Doolin where you will find a range of artisan food, open fires and the main stage area.
There is a range of Craft beers available as well as the mainstream beers for the less adventurous. The beauty of the festival is for the most part you are drinking something you've never had before. It is taken in to account that you may or may not like a certain beer so there are free samples provided with no obligation to buy. The entry to the festival includes your very own Doolin Craft Beer and Roots Festival Glass. There are rinsing stations available if you want to change from a Stout to an Ale for example. There is something there for everyone everything from Writers Tears Whiskey to Galway Hooker Pale Ale to Radikale Belgian Dubbel. There is also a range of foods available for festival goers.
To experience more of Doolin a 10 minute walk to O Connor's Pub is recommended the food is great and the staff couldn't have been nicer. There are also two campsites in the village, Nagles Campsite and Riverview. Both have advantages, Riverview is centrally located for all amenities but is only 3 star whereas Nagles is a 4 star campsite with exceptional facilities but can be a 25 minute walk to the hotel if you happen to miss the shuttle bus, which I did. The campsites are value for money 20 euros a night is reasonable for a 4 star campsite close to local attractions such as The Doolin Cave and also a short drive from two blue flag beaches either side in Fanore and Lahinch. The Cliffs of Moher, as one of Ireland's main attractions is not to be missed.
If you're not the camping type do not be afraid, Doolin has a huge amount of BnB's and the competitive market benefits the customers as rates are very reasonable. If you happen to be very picky about where you stay you can of course stay in the amazing Doolin Hotel, from my own experience of staying here it's one of the best Hotels in the West of Ireland. The food is second to none and the setting is breath taking, be prepared to pay a bit extra for the luxury, an average room rate as quoted by Hotel Doolin is 160 euro per night.
I teamed up with Frank's Food this weekend at the Doolin Craft Beer and Roots Festival and will be providing reviews of the Food and of course Beer at the Festival.
