Kinnegar Devils Back Bone Amber Ale
The Kinnegar Brewery based in Donegal prides itself in producing crisp and clean Farmhouse beers as naturally as possible. They choose not to pasteurize their beers but to instead let the yeast naturally carbonate their beer. They have wide range of produce to tailor for all tastes.
I have chosen the Amber Ale from Kinnegar to review craftily named "Devil's Backbone". It's intriguing and sparked my interest in the beer.
In between a Red Ale and an IPA it has both the characteristics of a wonderfully rich Red Ale mixed with the lightness and essence of an IPA. It is a great all rounder and tends to lend itself closer to a Red Ale than IPA. I'm really impressed with the Amber Ale. It's something I have been wanting to get a hold of for a long time.
It pours a crafty Amber and although on appearance it may look like a Stout it is not as heavy or a creamy as a stout in fact it is quite the opposite It is sweet from a hint of chocolate comparable to Caramalts used in Red Ales. The master stroke in this Brew is how Kinnegar have captured the relaxing and rich flavour and balanced it with a bright bubbly IPA like qualities.

The brewers have set out to achieve a pure, natural and crisp product and they really have delivered.
